In the same month after my first jab, I received my second of SINOVAC.

In the hike of this new Covid-19 delta variant that has now reached wider countries, receiving vaccines against Covid-19 (no matter which brand) has been mine and my family’s number one prayer.

“Why get vaccinated anyway?” People still have this question because they kept insisting that you’ll still get the virus whether you get vaccinated or not.

Well firstly — because I love my family. Loving your family means you don’t want anything bad to happen to them. So protecting them from anything harmful and hurtful (emotional or physical) kicks in.

Since my mum’s death last 2014 due to complications from diabetes, my family promised that we’ll take care of each other wherever we are. So even a simple fever alerts everyone in the family — because showing even the smallest emotional support makes you remember that you are loved, and feeling loved “heals”. So you need to remember to pay attention to self-care.

Second, Covid-19 is not a joke. Yes, there are people who didn’t experience any severe symptoms (or were asymptomatic). Yet, they carried the virus and brought severe effects, even death, to others because they ignored the risks. That’s how it turned into a pandemic. This virus kills — and you don’t want to be an accomplice. Getting vaxxed not just lowers these severe symptoms (if infected), but also lowers the number of people carrying it — thus spreading immunity from the virus instead.

And third, the world misses us SO MUCH. When was the last time you walked outside carefree — no masks and sits next to that stranger you often ride with in buses and trains? The world has to move again. And bounderies should be opened again.
